TOURNAMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1 General

1.1
These terms and conditions (‘terms’) govern your participation in online coding tournaments administered and/or organised by Secure Code Warrior Limited (‘Secure Code Warrior’, ‘us’, ‘our’, ‘we’).

2 Eligibility and participation

2.1
To be eligible and participate in a tournament, you must:

2.1.1
Be at least 18 years old;

2.1.2
Either be a licenced user working for a participating customer company or corporate group, or an individual who has registered for participation through a free trial of our learning platform;

2.1.3
Provide us with accurate, complete and up-to-date information needed for your participation in the tournament or to receive a prize;

2.1.4
Acknowledge that Secure Code Warrior may send you service or operational emails/messages related to the tournament and your participation (this does not include marketing emails);

2.1.5
Join our Secure Code Forum on Discord for the duration of the tournament (through which you will receive leaderboard updates and can discuss the tournament with our admins and other participants in tournament specific channels);

2.1.6
Comply with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines (including those related to fair competition, professional conduct, harassment and discrimination) within the confines of the tournament, our Secure Code Forum and externally.

2.2
Secure Code Warrior employees, their immediate family members, and the immediate family members of their partner may participate in tournaments, but they are not eligible to win any prizes.

2.3
We reserve the right to verify your eligibility and to deny your participation at our sole discretion.

3 Prizes 

3.1
Prizes may be awarded to the tournament’s winner and runners-up. Prize details will be shared in advance or at the start of the tournament.3.4

3.2
Tournaments independently organised and operated by Secure Code Warrior:

3.2.1
We determine the nature and value of any prizes awarded. Prizes are non-transferable and we reserve the right to substitute or modify prizes at our sole discretion.

3.2.2
Recipients will be notified of their prize by email and must claim it within fourteen (14) days. Secure Code Warrior reserves the right to decide what happens with the prize after this deadline has expired.

3.2.3
We will ship non-monetary prizes as soon as possible (subject to availability) from the nearest Secure Code Warrior regional office. Non-monetary prizes may be subject to import tax in the destination country; by claiming the prize, recipients accept they are responsible for the cost of import tax and we will withhold shipping if this is contested.

3.3
Tournaments organised on behalf of a participating company or group entity (‘external organisation’):

3.3.1
The external organisation is responsible for the nature, value, substitution, modification, notification and distribution of any prizes unless otherwise agreed with Secure Code Warrior (in which case Section 3.2 will apply).

3.3.2
You must direct all complaints or queries regarding external organisation prizes to them. Secure Code Warrior may redirect such communications and we are not responsible for responding to you or chasing the external organisation for a response.

3.4
Participants are required to verify their own eligibility to receive prizes if entering as part of a company or organisation. Prizes forfeited as a result of third-party company policies will be awarded to the next eligible winner in their respective category.

4 Tournament specific information

4.1
Any restrictions related to the number of tournament arenas, categories, or coding languages participants can compete in will be communicated separately and are specific to each tournament. 

4.2
Where the tournament is independently organised and operated by Secure Code Warrior, we will determine the start date (and time) and end date (and time).

4.3
Where Secure Code Warrior facilitates tournaments on behalf of an external organisation, the external organisation will determine and notify us of the parameters of any tournament; including tournament name, description, start date (and time) / end date (and time), participating companies, languages, number of challenges, minimum or maximum number of participants, and any other information Secure Code Warrior requires to facilitate the tournament.

5 Limitation of liability

5.1
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Secure Code Warrior is not liable for any damages or losses (including lost profits, business, employment, opportunities, or other intangible losses), related to your participation in the tournament or use of prizes, regardless of the cause, even if informed of the possibility of such damages.

5.2
The tournament leaderboard is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute an official certification or endorsement by Secure Code Warrior. We are not responsible for any recruitment, poaching, or employment decisions made by third parties based on the results or standings of the competition. Participants acknowledge that their involvement in the tournament is at their own risk, and we bear no liability for any subsequent actions taken by participants or third parties in relation to the leaderboard or the competition.

6 Changes to terms and conditions

6.1

Secure Code Warrior reserves the right to include additional terms for any specific tournament we organised.

6.3
Secure Code Warrior reserves the right to change the terms without notice. Any changes will be effective as of the date they are published.
